Born 20 Oct 1628 in New Haven, CT.
Died 8 Dec 1709 in Wallingford, New Haven, CT.
A son was killed in the Great Swamp Fight of the Pequot Indian War in Rhode Island.
Nathaniel Merriman was a founder of Wallingford, CT. and was town clerk for 8 years.

p. 368  Merriman:  Nathaniel, New Haven:  had Nathaniel, Hannah, born 1651: Grave? 1653; Sarah 1655; Elizabeth 1657; Abigail, perhaps 1659; John 1660; Mary; he was one of the first settlers at Wallingford, it's representative 1674, lieutenant, and late in 1675, capt. of dragoons of the Co., and continued propr. at New Haven;  died 1694, aged 80.

Vol. 2, p. 23, 1662  The Court doth confirm these as officers to ye Traine Band in New Haven:  Lt. Nathaniel Merriman.
Vol. 2  p. 172  The Court confirms Nathaniel Merryman as Lt. of the Trayn band of Wallingford.
Vol. 2 p. 202  The the committee for New Haven do consent that the meadow between the Mill River and the East River northward above the Blue Hills shall be Wallingford.  Subscribed by the 3rd Parties:  Nathaniel Merriman, et al
including Abram Dickerman
Vol. 2 1674 Deputy for the Court for Wallingford:  Lt. Nat. Merriman
Vol 2 , Nov. 1, 1675  the council received a letter stating that a Mr. Rosewell refused a Capt. postion and recommended that Lt. Merriman be appointed Capt. of the Troop of Dragoons to be raysed in New Haven County.  The council did confirm him.
